So basically, as of last night I have created a new sweetened version
of my brew: the perfect marriage of cold brewed coffee and organic
cane sugar.

Simply pour the included creamer into the bottle (if you so choose),
shake it up and enjoy. Then proceed to walk around in public
consuming your Luke's Brew with a big smile on your face so I get lots
of free advertising. : )

Alot of people ask me how I made my main site. Basically, since I have no web design experience whatsoever, I decided to do it all by hand. Literally. Check out the video and see what I mean... All I can say is I'm probably the only web designer who uses a box cutter.

As you can hopefully see, that's my brew to the far right. Sure, Starbucks(tm) and Manhattan Special(tm) have me beat, but it's not a bad start!

This particular display happens to be in Iron Tomato in White Plains. It's been selling pretty well there, and we haven't decided for sure yet whether it fits best in the ready-to-drink section or the cooler with all the milk and stuff.

We're trying it here for the time being, and only time will tell.

I taught myself a bit of web design and built a new site. Enjoy! This will be the new main landing site, and visitors will have the option to be directed to the blog here.

The idea was to make it easier for first timers to get an idea of what Luke's Brew is, where to get it, and how to reach me.

Below is a snapshot of what the site looks like. Basically I made everything by hand: scissors, tape, stapler, markers, paper, cardboard, a scanner, and a lot of hours of learning how to turn it all into a website. Anyway, I think it came out looking kinda neat.

New bottle shipment: 900 bottles crammed into my tiny car

I think if I bought one more case I would've needed a second trip.

Anyway, business can now officially resume now that I have all my bottles, or at least so I thought. Just as I was about to leave, a very nice employee reminded me that my bottle caps hadn't been shipped. Here I was, merrily leaving, planning my weekend of bottling, forgetting the simple fact that I had no caps. Now, whether or not you've ever bottled coffee before, I'm sure you can understand the importance of caps in any bottling business. I can only imagine the reactions I would get if I started delivering capless bottles to all of my customers. Fortunately the store had some extra bags of caps, which I promptly purchased and went on my way.

That's what this whole business thing has been about: making silly mistakes and trying to learn fast and not repeat them. Anyway, my weekend can now go as planned, and I will resume churning out bottles as normal.

P.S. I plan on posting a short "How it's made" video in the next few days, because I think people might get a kick out of seeing just what goes into each and every bottle of Luke's Brew. Keep checking back.

Brew in Pelham: Lola's Tea House

As of today, Luke's Brew is now available in Pelham, at Lola's Tea House on Fifth Ave. Check out the site here.

Lola's is a really nice place, I actually had "high tea" there not too long ago, although I won't admit that to too many people. : ) Leslie Allicks is the founder, and not only is she personable and welcoming, she also brews a mean cup of tea.

So if you're in the area, stop by, and tell her Luke sent you.

Brew now in Scarsdale/New Rochelle: Cherry Lawn Market!

Today I was fortunate enough to meet a very kind manager over at Cherry Lawn Market, on Weaver Street and Quaker Ridge Road, who agreed to stock my brew.

This makes the sixth location to carry Luke's Brew, and I hope this is only the tip of the iceberg.

By the way, if you have never been to Cherry Lawn, it's worth the trip: it combines the feel of a friendly small town farmer's market with the product selection of an upscale place, plus a friendly staff and reasonable prices and you have a spot worth traveling to. Also, it's a pretty convenient spot for Larchmont/Mamaroneck/Scarsdale/New Rochelle folks.

Also, an article should be running in the Scarsdale paper pretty soon, so if you're in the area pick up the next issue, otherwise I will be posting the article myself when I get it.

As of yesterday, Luke's Brew is now available at East Ave Cafe, on East Ave in Larchmont, around the corner from Longfords.

If you've never been there, check it out. Great people, lots of good candy and food, and now my coffee as well!

I am also working on a few other stores in Rye and Byram, CT as well, and I will keep you all posted with my progress.

Me and a buddy of mine decided to try skimboarding behind the boat: I told him it would be impossible, but alas, as shown in the video, I was completely wrong.

And you're right, this has nothing to do with coffee, I just figured I would drop in a post to let people know I do things other than brewing coffee. : )

I will be back in town August 17th, brewing as much as always and pursuing some interesting coffee-related opportunities for the Fall.
